Flatlabs6 Tunis in collaboration with DEMO Africa successfully facilitated the Tunisia innovation tour. Toufoula Kids was crowned Tunisia tour winners after an astounding event. Toufoula Kids is a multi-language Ludo-educational Platform offered in Arabic, French, English for children from 4 to 10 years old. The mobile app is linked to a smart printed magazine linked together by Augmented Reality in the context of reducing children’s addiction to screens.
The event was graced by a special guest judge Samantha Stein, Director of Techcrunch Battlefield and saw twelve outstanding startups came together all geared up to pitch in front of the selected judges. The other judges were Haroun Aouini, Ecosystem Lead at Amen Bank, Yehia Houry, MD Flat6Labs Tunis, Afef Ajengui, Program Officer at Cogite , Aymen Touhent, CEO and Founder Switch.io. Five teams were selected for the second round pitch and Toufoula Kids emerged winners. Other teams that made it to the top five were HawKar, eTaxi, Naviacom and Logis.
“This product is the answer to a lack of digital content in the Arabic language which is only 3% compared to a strong demand of 60% in the MENA regions. Toufoula Kids is not only a learning tool for children, at home, but also a tool for developing fun concept ideas and for raising awareness with partners who target children and their immediate environment,” commented Awalef Mosbeh of Toufoula Kids.
The Northern African winners Moldaig, Toufoula Kids and Chefaa all proceed to Morocco for the DEMO pan-African finals. The successful startups in each region automatically qualify to be part of the pool of 30 where the successful startup/s will be provided with resources worth over US$150,000 including US$120,000 software tools from Microsoft and USD$15 000 from AWS that to help them build and grow their businesses.
