Cape Town-based incubator and accelerator French South African Tech Labs (FSAT Labs) has opened applications for the fourth cohort of its six-month-long incubation programme.

Applications close on 8 November. Interested tech entrepreneurs will need to complete an application form online and build a pitch deck and email it to FSAT Labs. Those shortlisted for the cohort will be announced on 12 November.

These candidates will then be invited to a pitching competition — to be held at the AfricArena 2018 Tech Conference in Century City, Cape Town on 16 November. The top candidates from the pitching session will win entry into FSAT Lab’s incubation programme, set to kick off in January next year.

FSAT Labs’ incubation programme aims to help the selected entrepreneurs turn their ideas into sustainable businesses and help participants to develop a minimum viable programme (MVP) that is built by in-house developers.

The organisation estimates the value of its business support — which includes office space, access to an MVP lab, professional training, access to FSAT Labs’ respective networks as well as legal, accounting, digital marketing, communications and other professional support.

Participants will also get access to seed funding, angel investors and venture capitalists.

FSAT Labs works in partnership with the Small Enterprise Development Agency (Seda), the Technology Innovation Agency (TIA) and international technology firm Methys, in a bid to act as a gateway between France and South Africa.

Since its launch last year, FSAT Labs has incubated 15 startups. The incubator and accelerator particularly focuses on digital innovation around the areas of smart city, smart education, smart commerce, smart home and smart media.
