Seedstars World has announced the 10 Nigerian startups that will pitch at the sixth Seedstars Lagos pitch event that will at Seedspace Lagos on 19th October.
The startup that comes out tops at the pitch event will win an all-inclusive trip to attend the Seedstars Summit in Switzerland in April next year, where they stand to win up to $1-million in equity investment.
In addition, the winning startup will also represent Nigeria at the Seedstars Africa Regional Summit which will take place in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania on 13 December.
A panel comprised of Wennovation Hub COO Ahmed Umar, Tony Elumelu Foundation director for partnerships and evaluation Ifenyiwa Ugochukwu and TextNigeria managing director Chike Asiodu will select the winning startup.
The 10 startups selected to battle it out at the sixth edition of Seedstars Lagos include — a chat-based payment platform, a software as a service (SaaS) platform, an edtech startup as well as an agritech solution that is using drones in its mission to eliminate hunger and make food affordable.
Here are the startups:
Aspire Power Solutions: The company optimises and delivers clean, reliable and affordable energy solutions in Nigeria.
Beat Drone: This startup uses drones to improve harvest yields and reduce production costs.
Biya: Biya’s chat-based payment platform enables users to make payments in addition to allowing merchants to request and receive payments via messaging platforms like Slack, Skype, Facebook Messenger and Telegram.
Bridgebooks: The startup offers a simplified accounting analytics solution that provides small businesses with a platform to structure their business finances and make smart financial decisions.
Chekkit Technologies: A blockchain-powered anti-counterfeiting platform that offers real-time supply-chain tracking and customer experience analytics.
DropQue: DropQue uses a combination of one-way unassisted video interviews and an artificial intelligence (AI) assessment assistant to help companies source the suitable candidates.
Insight Africa: Insight Africa’s Study Lab learning management and data analytics tool helps improve the quality of learning delivered in maths and science and provides useful insights for teachers.
Natterbase: This crowd-sourcing platform helps users hire and manage top engineering teams on demand.
NextCounsel: NextCounsel is a law practice management solution that increases the effectiveness of law firms by providing solutions to case, document, human resources and financial management.
Termii: Termii is a Saas platform that helps teams secure repeat customers through personalised emails and SMS messages sent across multiple channels.
