Angolan ride-sharing service Kubinga has been selected as the winner of this year’s Seedstars Luanda pitch event in Angola.
A panel of judges that included BFA Asset Management CEO Rui Oliveira, TGI president Alexander Thompson-Payan, Kianda Hub managing director Joel Epalanga, Unitel head of innovation Juelson Bartolomeu, Banco Millennium Atlantico board member Odyle Vieira Dias Cardoso and Seedstars World regional manager Claudia Makadristo selected the winners.
Kubinga placed first ahead of e-learning platform LV Digital, which came in second, while Fix Technologies took third place for its online ticket service.
By winning Seedstars Luanda, Kubinga has secured an opportunity to represent Angola at Seedstar’s Africa and global summits. At the global conference in Lausanne, the startup stands a chance to win up to $1-million in funding.
Kubinga was founded last year by Alan Santos. The ride-sharing service aims to address unemployment in Angola as well as tackle Angola’s expensive private transport sector.
