On January 22, Olaseni Odukoya, the co-founder of Nigeria’s first tire store, eTyres.ng took to Twitter to announce the shut down of the startup.
He tweeted: “Just to let you know, http://etyres.ng which was the first online tyre store in Nigeria is no more. Why? Greed, tribalism and no trust destroyed it. I’m pained but in all honesty, it was for the sanity of all involved.”
Although it had great prospects, Odukoya blamed greed, tribalism and lack of trust for the death of the tyres platform.
Despite the unpalatable announcement, it was not all bad news. Odukoya tweeted that he was working on launching his own tire startup on February 1st.

True to his tweet, Odukoya today unveiled Affordable Tyres.
We say congratulations to Odukoya. Hopefully, Affordable Tyres will be long lasting and will not be brought by greed, tribalism and lack of trust.
