Five African startups have been selected from Nigeria; Morocco, Ghana, Tunisia and Egypt for the 2019 Lions Innovation Tour of Silicon Valley. The 6th edition of the LIONS@FRICA Innovation Tour will be held from May 25-June 3, 2019.
The startups will serve as technology ambassadors to their local ecosystems during the Lions Innovation Tour and join the network of innovators in Silicon Valley to improve their technologies, accelerate business development activities, recruit mentors and team members, engage diaspora actors and seek capital.
There will also be hosting a series of meetups and engagements around the Bay Area to enable the startups to meet with the African Diaspora community.
Recall that these five startups emerged winners for a tour of Silicon Valley during DEMO Africa conference took place in Casablanca, Morocco last year.
The participating startups are:
Kourtim
Kourtim is a logistics management system that provides real-time monitoring to all the stages of road freight transport. Kourtim centralizes operational data from your ecosystem (carriers, logisticians, customers & suppliers) on a single platform, allowing customers to analyze and control operational flows and transport costs.

Hawkar
Hawkar is a smart electric car for physically handicapped persons. It is adapted to different types of motor handicaps, based on the needs of the person. It is directly & easily accessible in a wheelchair and allows long-distance travel in complete autonomy. The company producers single-seater city cars with a maximum speed of 45 km/h. Output power is 4kW & the battery capacity is 3kWH which allows a one-way drive range of about 60 km.
