The 2019 finals of the AppsAfrica Awards was recently held in Cape Town, South Africa and Nigeria Startups were not missing as they won in four categories. among the winners.

Carbon (Formerly Paylater) won the Best Fintech Solution, 54gene won the Best Healthtech Solution, Best mCommerce Solution went to One Kiosk Africa and Changing Africa Award went to Flutterwave.

The AppsAfrica Awards aim to showcase the best mobile and tech services launched across the continent, from both corporates and startups.

According to AppsAfrica, this year’s edition attracted 400 entries from 52 countries across the continent.

An independent panel of industry experts including media, investors and leaders from the tech community selected the winners.

In total, 14 startups went home with Awards.

The other Awards winners are:

1.) Best Edtech Solution: Lightsail Education for Lightsale Educational E-Reader (South Africa)

2.) Social Impact Award: Idea Digital Education (South Africa)

3.) Best African App: Appy Saúde (Angola)

4.) Disruptive Innovative Award: Brck for Moja (Kenya)

5.) Best Enterprise Solution: PM Connect

6.) Best Agritech Solution : Aerobotics for Aeroview in InField (South Africa)

7.) Best News and Entertainment Solution: Carry1st (South Africa)

8.) Best Blockchain Solution: RippleNami (Kenya)

9.) Best Internet of Things (IoT) Solution: Liquid Telecom (Kenya)

10.) Best Mobility Solution: Lori Systems (Kenya)

The winners have been invited to attend Africa Tech Summit Kigali which will be held in Rwanda in February.

The event will feature three tracks, namely the Money and Blockchain Summit, the Future Summit and the Africa Startup Summit.

AppsAfrica founder Andrew Fassnidge said in a statement that the awards provide an “unbiased platform” for the smaller guys to compete on a level playing field against bigger corporates, who typically dominate awards elsewhere which why they were first set up in 2015.

“Congratulations to all the winners we look forward to having them all join us at Africa Tech Summit in Rwanda next year, and a special word of thanks all entrants, our expert judging panel, sponsors and supporting partners across Africa who help each year,” he added.
