Bookings Africa, a Nigerian marketplace for creatives, has expanded to Kenya after raising undisclosed funding from Unicorn Group.
The startup recently launched its mobile app to allow users to create a personal profile, upload their work portfolio, set their own rates, availability and manage their business better with guaranteed payments.
Bookings Africa provides a technology-led platform through which clients can hire service providers.
Since it’s launch in April 2019, more than 2,000 talented Africans have signed up – including DJs, dancers, equipment hire outlets, social media influencers and photographers, among others.
“I believe Africa is the future, yet, the biggest problem we face is unemployment,” Bookings Africa CEO Fadé Ogunro said back in October at the launch of the app. “We are tackling this issue by enabling millions of freelancers to gain recognition, monetise their talent and build a sustainable career on their terms.
