The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) has selected 3 winners for the COVID-19 innovation challenge and awarded them a total of $2.5 million.
The winners of the COVID-19 innovation challenge whose demo day was held virtually and attended by over 150 people across the world are:
1. Algorizmi – 1st (N1,000,000);
2. Smart Chamber – 2nd (N750,000);
3. Myclinic.ng – 3rd (N500,000)
4. Covid Tracker – 4th
5. COViRR 20 – 5th
Director-General of NITDA Abdullahi Inuwa said that Nigeria COVID-19 innovation challenge was introduced to use indigenous technology to contain the spread of coronavirus pandemic.
For Dr Isa Pantami, Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, the challenge was part of the National Information Technology Development Strategy in an “attempt to implement our national digital economy policy for digital Nigeria 2020-2030.
“When we developed this plan, there was nothing like Covid-19 but with Covid-19 today there was a need for us to fast track and facilitate the implementation.”
The Nigeria COVID-19 Innovation Challenge is an initiative of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) aimed at identifying and showcasing innovative technology that will contain the pandemic.
