MTN has disclosed that it will host the virtual launch of its 5G commercial network in South Africa on June 30 according to CEO Godfrey Motsa who will be present with other officials.
MTN will join Rain and Vodacom Group in the race to introduce 5G technology in the country.
Rain launched the country’s first commercial 5G network in partnership with China’s Huawei Technologies in 2019.
Meanwhile, Vodacom launched its 5G network in May in three cities-Johannesburg, Pretoria and Cape Town, with further launches planned in other parts of South Africa.
For the record, MTN South Africa had selected Ericsson to build its new 5G infrastructures (mobile and radio network).
