Team Power Bit Crunchers and Team Zeena Platform have been named winners of the Lagos Smart Metre Hackathon powered by the Eko Innovation Centre with Lagos Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources as title sponsors.
Both teams were named winners at the finale held at the Eko Innovative Centre and attended by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Deputy Governor Femi Hamzat and Olalere Odusote, Commissioner for Energy and Mineral Resources among other dignitaries.
While Power Bit Crunchers won in the hardware category, Zeena Platform won in the software category and they both received N4.5 million cash reward.
In total,10 teams (5 for hardware + 5 for software) competed to win the N9 million on offer which was increased to N10 million by the Governor.
Meanwhile, Team Magnitronics and Team Cosmos received N2 Million donated by Chantelle Abdul, MD/CEO Mojec International, the largest meter manufacturer in Nigeria.
The Lagos Smart Metre Hackathon is an initiative of the Eko Innovation Centre which is aimed at promoting efforts to provide affordable meter to the populace by facilitating a meter design hackathon to improve energy distribution, monitoring, and preventing revenue leakage.
