PricePally, a Nigerian wholesale platform that allows users to purchase food and other products either individually or as a part of a group, has been awarded first prize at the 2020 Africa Cup competition at the South Africa Innovation Summit.
The Africa Cup is a center-stage competition providing startups and early-stage companies in all tech-enabled sectors from around the world the opportunity to compete and showcase their solutions to a global audience.
PricePally which is a Greentec Capital portfolio company beat 11 other startups to take home the top prize.
The startup was founded in 2019 and provides access to affordable, nutritious, traceable, and secure food items in Africa’s urban cities. It is a wholesale and sharing economy e-commerce platform that enables people to buy food in bulk or share bulk food items with others online to leverage their collective bargaining power.
The Africa Cup competition’s goal is to promote and develop the entrepreneurial creativity of startups who are disrupting the traditional ways of doing business.
Due to the ongoing pandemic, the summit and Africa Cup competition were held virtually.
PricePally was awarded the top prize by a panel of industry leaders and African experts. The Nigerian company secured 1st prize with the uniquely implemented buying culture of the PricePally platform, where people can buy food in bulk or share bulk purchases directly sourced from farmers and wholesalers. The prize includes access to training, services, and investor matching.
