The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has said correction of details in the National Identity Number (NIN) will attract different charges.
The charge, according to NIMC regional coordinator in Alausa, Lagos, Funmi Opesanwo, varies from correction of details like name, address, card renewal or replacement, and date of birth.
According to Opesanwo, the following processing fees will be charged for various NIN modification services provided:
- Date of Birth- N15,000
- Card renewal or card replacement-N5,000
- Name and Address: N5,000
The NIMC regional co-ordinator adds that the fees “are for services and (things) to be corrected. They are payable to the Treasury Single Account (TSA) and not anybody.”
Lately, there has been an increase in the number of Nigerians who are bidding to enroll for the National Identity Number. This is because they want to meet the deadline set for their NIN to be linked to their phone number to prevent it from being blocked.
