MTN has announced new channels for its customers to buy data and airtime. The telecom company made this move after it blocked its subscribers from using the Unstructured Supplementary Service Data (USSD) codes.
This was a fallout of MTN’s reduction of the commissions it pays out to banks and fintech firms on the sales of airtime and data.

The mobile network operator, in a statement on Saturday, April 3, 2021, issued by its Senior Manager, External Relations, Funso Aina, also said customers could recharge airtime by dialing *904# and *606#.
MTN, in its statement, said, “It will interest you to note that for the benefit of our customers who have been greatly inconvenienced by the service suspension, we now have alternative channels of accessing MTN services electronically.”
