Babajide Duroshola, the pioneer CEO of Safeboda Nigeria, a motorcycle ride-hailing startup based in Ibadan, has stepped down.
Duroshola who was appointed on 6th May, 2019 to take Safeboda from an East African company to being a pan-African company starting with the expansion to Nigeria made the announcement in Medium post.
Duroshola said: “Over the last 26 months, I have kept building to solidify that vision and today I hold my head high as I stepped down a week ago from the reins at Safeboda.”
Outlining his achievements with the Safeboda team of over 50, he said they were able to
- Complete 1.5 Million trips across Ibadan
- Onboard 5,000+ drivers
- Enhance embedded finance play with the launch of cashless payment, airtime and driver buy-now-pay-later offerings
- Build solid partnerships with companies like Imalipay, Paddycover, Allianz, and a host of others.
Although an official replacement is yet to be diclosed, Duroshola clearly stated that “a replacement was found internally and trust he will continue to lead the company to groundbreaking heights.”
On what is next for the now former CEO of Safeboda, he excitedly said: “Well, I’m currently taking some much-needed family bonding time (shuttling Lagos — Ibadan wasn’t easy on us), enjoying a glass of whiskey with friends while preparing for what’s coming next.”
