The Agritech Hackathon, hosted by FCMB and supported by FMO, is dedicated to driving technological advancements in Agriculture. Our mission is to harness the power of innovation to solve pressing agricultural challenges, enhance food security, and promote sustainable rural development.

The format of this 6-month program involves a 3-month Hackathon and prize-giving day, 6 weeks of venture-building sprints, and an Investor Day program with a Documentary premiere. These are designed to provide high-impact innovative AgriTech startups with the relevant business and product development tools required to groom their solutions to Agricultural challenges in society and attract follow-on investments.

How to Participate

Register for the hackathon (deadline – 5th September)

  • Click on the “Register” button and fill out the form

Onboard your team on Eventornado (deadline – 16th September)

  • Follow email instructions to onboard your team to Eventornado (our hackathon platform)

Participate in the Ideation Phase (17th September)

  • Participate in the ideation warm-up, planned for the 17th of September 2024. Participation is optional and only intended as preparatory support for hackathon participants, including a design thinking session, ideation techniques etc.

Create a team and provide your initial idea – Project summary (18th September)

  • Follow the provided template to provide your project summary.

Participate in the FCMB AgriTech hackathon and Award Ceremony

  • Together with your Team and your Mentors, develop your idea for the FCMB AgriTech Hackathon, either remotely or in person at our partner hubs!

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the FCMB Hackathon and Venture Building Program 2024, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  1. Stage of Idea: Your business idea should be in the early stages of development.
  2. Team: You should have a team with a mix of skills and experience relevant to building an Agritech business. This could include experience in agriculture, technology, business development, and marketing.
  3. Passion for Agriculture: You should have a strong passion for agriculture and a desire to make a positive impact in the industry.
  4. Commitment: You should be committed to participating fully in the program and working hard to develop your venture.
  5. Legal: Be a legally registered company either as a business name or limited, individual teams of hackers are also encouraged to apply to the hackathon.

The Hackathon Categories

The FCMB AgriTech Hackathon encourages participants to assemble teams and tackle distinct challenges related to the Agric industry. High-level resources, such as research reports, and open-source software, will be provided to participants as they address these challenges.

Prizes

The top three teams will be awarded an exciting array of prizes! These rewards are designed to not only acknowledge your achievements but also to provide substantial support for the further development of your projects.

The prizes include: 

  • 💸Monetary Prize: Each winning team will receive a significant financial reward, offering a substantial boost to advance their innovative health solutions. The total prize value is equal to 23,000,000 Naira.
  • 👩‍🏫Venture Building Opportunity: Winners will have the chance to engage in a 4-weeks Venture Building program. This unique program will leverage best-in-class product development methodology and business advisory to ship fast and sell faster.
  • 🏆Trophy: In recognition of their exceptional talent, each winning team will be honoured with a commemorative plaque, symbolising their achievement and excellence in the Agri-Sector.
